The Alberta Utilities Commission, the independent utilities regulator, will be considering the application from the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO), as directed by regulation, for Independent System Operator (ISO) rule changes to facilitate the requirements and objectives of the Market Power Mitigation Regulation, and the Supply Cushion Regulation to ensure that the delivery of Alberta’s utility service takes place in a manner that is fair, responsible and in the public interest. If you feel you may be affected by this application, you can provide input to the AUC to review before it makes its decision.
The AESO applied for final approval of the following new and amended ISO rules: (a) New Section 206.1 of the ISO rules, Interim Secondary Offer Cap; (b) New Section 206.2 of the ISO rules, Interim Supply Cushion Directives; (c) Proposed amendments to the following, existing ISO rules: (i) Section 202.4 of the ISO rules, Managing Long Lead Time Assets. (ii) Section 203.1 of the ISO rules, Offers and Bids for Energy. (d) New Consolidated Authoritative Document Glossary definitions to effect the above changes. (collectively, the Interim Market Mitigation ISO Rules)
