Oyen Wind Power Project

RES Oyen Wind LP, as represented by its general partner, RES Oyen Wind GP Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Renewable Energy Systems Canada Inc., has applied for approval to construct and operate a 466-megawatt (MW) wind power plant, the associated Tumbleweed 1043S Substation and collector lines, designated as the Oyen Wind Power Project. The project would consist of two phases, Phase 1 will include a maximum of 45 turbines for a generation capacity of 250 MW and Phase 2 will include a maximum of 38 turbines for a generation capacity of 216 MW. The proposed turbines have a hub height of 120 metres and a blade length of 85 metres.

The project would be sited on 147 quarter sections of private land, approximately eight kilometres north of Oyen, Alberta, in Special Area No. 3. The project area is shown in the map below and would cover the following locations:
