In 2022 the AUC continued to change and adapt to find improvements to our work and become an increasingly effective and efficient regulator.

We continued to see a significant number of applications with more major proceedings in 2022 than in years past.

The AUC was pleased to have achieved a 48.2 per cent reduction in regulatory requirements since the benchmark calculated in November 2019, exceeding the government of Alberta’s red tape reduction target of one-third. The AUC has also implemented initiatives that have improved regulatory efficiency and builds on its goal to become one of the fastest and most effective regulators in North America.

Looking forward, in 2023 the AUC will continue to deliver under its three key strategic plan pillars and further increase efficiency by implementing process improvements. More information on the AUC’s long-term planning and initiatives will be released over the coming months.
