The Alberta Utilities Commission has approved applications from ENGIE Development Canada GP Inc. to construct and operate a 400-megawatt (MW) wind power plant, designated as the Buffalo Trail Wind Power Project. The AUC issued Decision 27240-D01-2023 on February 8, 2023.
The project will consist of up to 65 wind turbines in two 200-MW phases (north and south phases). Each phase would have a separate substation, which would be designated as Buffalo Trail North Substation and Buffalo Trail South Substation. The project will be located in Cypress County and the project area and proposed substation locations are shown on the map below.

The AUC held hearing from November 7 to 10, 2022 to review the applications and submissions received to consider the electric transmission development applications in Proceeding 27240.
