The AUC is reviewing applications for a solar power plant and a substation in the city of Medicine Hat

The AUC will be holding a hearing to review the power plant and substation development applications from Saamis Solar Park Limited, a part of the DP Energy group, who has applied to construct and operate a 325-megawatt solar power plant, designated as the Saamis Solar Park, and the associated Grian 1056S Substation.
The project would be located on approximately 662 hectares of privately owned land within the urban limits of the city of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Specifically, the project would be located within portions of sections 11, 12 and 13 of Township 13, Range 6, west of the Fourth Meridian, and within portions of sections 7 and 18 of Township 13, Range 5, west of the Fourth Meridian.
The proposed Grian 1056 Substation would be located in the southeast quarter of Section 13, Township 13, Range 6, west of the Fourth Meridian.
The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC), the independent utilities regulator will be holding a hearing to review the applications and submissions received to consider the solar power plant development applications in Proceeding 27788. The previously suspended hearing will now begin on April 9, 2024, at 10 a.m.
